Palladium(II) complex with salicylaldehyde: Synthesis, characterization, crystal structure and thermal decomposition into PdO nano-particle

Abstract :

The synthesis and characterization of a palladium(II) complex containing two bidentate salicylaldehyde ligands is reported. The structure of the complex has been confirmed as squarer-planar by elemental analyses, molar conductivity measurement and spectroscopic analyses (IR and UV-Vis) as well as X-ray analysis. Thermal stability of the complex was studied by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), supplying palladium oxide as residue. The palladium oxide nono-sized has been also prepared by direct thermal composition of the complex. The nano-material was characterized by XRD powder diffraction.
